The City of Adel provides competitive electricity to all of its residents, businesses and industries. Our employees are well-trained in electrical distribution, with 5 of our 11 employees certified by Georgia’s Integrated Transmission System (ITS). We maintain a safe work environment for our employees and community. The Electric Department of Adel is committed to customer satisfaction and reliability in its power supply.
The City of Adel is one of 52 Georgia communities that receives its wholesale energy from The Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG). MEAG Power has over $ 8.9 billion in assets and has 2069 Megawatts of capacity and is co-owner of Georgia’s ITS system. Adel is a member of Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG), of which Electric Superintendent Rene Cowart is a Board Member. ECG is an organization dedicated to excellence in providing services to Georgia Electrical cities and their customers. |

The City of Adel can read all the electric meters in our city utilizing the AMI system; we can receive immediate outage alerts on our system which shortens outage time for our customers; we also have computers in the trucks for viewing outage maps at a glance. Using the AMI system, the utility billing department can provide customers with a daily usage report upon request.

The City of Adel’s Power Provider, Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) delivers 67% Carbon-Free Energy to the City of Adel to provide to Adel Electrical Customers.

The City of Adel is gradually migrating to LED lights for street and security lighting as well as businesses that utilize our lighting packages. The new LED lights are more energy efficient with a longer life span and a brighter, clearer light pattern. The city offers these lights for our customers with a monthly flat fee on their power bill. The fee varies in price according to wattage of light and number of lights. Contact City Hall @ 229-896-4504 if interested in our lighting packages.

The City of Adel partners with Georgia Public Web (GPW) for High Speed internet on fiber optic cable. The City has a fiber ring around the city that connects all the City Departments together and also some commercial customers that purchase internet services with GPW.

The Jeff Cook Training Center on Bozeman Road in Adel is a training center for Linemen from Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) and Florida Electric Cities. It has a class room building and 4 acres of utility poles to work on climbing skills and bucket truck skills.
About eight miles west of Adel is Reed Bingham State Park, which features a 375-acre lake for boating, swimming, water skiing and fishing. It also offers beautiful walking trails, camp sites, picnic shelters and venues for numerous outdoor activities.
