Youth Sports

The Adel-Cook Recreation Department provides opportunities for community youth to participate in a variety of team sports throughout the year including baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, and T-ball & K-league. Please see sections below for specific age requirements & registration deadlines for each sport.

Registration & payment

To register for youth sports, please come to the Recreation Department Office, complete the registration & liability forms, and provide payment (cash or check payable to Adel-Cook Recreation Department or (ACRD)). If registering after the deadline, your child may be placed on a waiting list and may or may not be placed on a team based on available spaces. No payment will be collected until your child is placed on a team.

Become a coach

Our youth need positive roll models! Please consider becoming a coach. It's fun, rewarding, and provides a valuable service to our community. If interested, please call or visit the Adel-Cook Recreation office. You will be required to fill out a background check.

Baseball 

  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers baseball for boys ages 7-14 (on or before  September 1st of the current year)
  • Spring sports registration begins in January and ends in February.
  • The registration fee is $35/child & includes a team jersey.
  • Practices begin in March and regular season games begin in April.
  • Practices will be at Massee Post Complex, Rob Lovett Park or Adel-Cook Sports Complex.
  • ​Games will be at Adel-Cook Sports Complex.

Basketball

Basketball
  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers basketball for boys and girls ages 8-12 (on or before September 1st of previous year)
  • Registration begins in December and ends 2nd Friday of January
  • The registration fee is $35/child & includes a team jersey.
  • Practices begins 3rd week in January and regular season games begin last week in January
  • Games and practices will be at the Cook Middle Gym (CMS).

Football

Football
  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers football for boys ages 7-12 (on or before September 1st of the current year)
  • Registration begins in July and ends 2nd Friday of August.
  • The registration fee is $35/child & includes a team jersey. * Please note that the Adel-Cook Recreation Department (ACRD) does not provide football equipment.
  • Practices begin in August and regular season games begin in September.
  • Games will be played at Cook High School Football Stadium.

Softball

Softball
  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers softball for girls ages 7-14 (on or before September 1st of the current year)
  • Spring sports registration begins in January and ends in February.
  • The registration fee is $35/child & includes a team jersey.
  • Practices begin in March and regular season games begin in April.

T-Ball & K-League

  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers Coed T-Ball for 4 year olds (on or before September 1st) & Coed K-League for 5 year olds (prior to September 1st of the current year)
  • Spring sports registration begins in January and ends in February.
  • The registration fee is $35/child & includes a team jersey.
  • Practices begin in March and regular season games begin in April.
  • Practices will be at Massee Post Complex, Rob Lovett Park or Adel-Cook Sports Complex.
  • ​Games will be at Adel-Cook Sports Complex.

Co-Ed Flag Football

Co-Ed Flag Football
  • The Adel-Cook Recreation Department offers football for boys and girls ages 5-6 (on or before September 1st of the current year)​
  • Registration begins in July and end 1st week of August.
  • The registration fee is $35.00/child & includes a jersey.
  • Practices will begin in August and games will begin in September.
  • Games will be at Massee Post “ The Old Cook High Football Stadium.”
  • Practice locations will be up to the coaches.
